Fuga: Melodies of Steel 3 is the third and final title to the Fuga trilogy of videogames.
The story continues right after Fuga 2's true ending, where Malt Marzipan confronts his older brother Ash in the same cave where the Taranis was first discovered. After Ash and the Crimson Knights kidnap Malt, the other children board the tank once again to save him.
The children will face a reinforced Berman Imperial Army, the aforementioned Crimson Knights, Titano-Machina, and potentially even higher stakes threats from the Maestro who plans to eliminate those living in the New World. To thwart them, the Taranis evolves into the Taranis Ω which gives them the power to perform air battles. The Taranis also earns a new AI whose a quadruped cat named Chathie.
The story is to dive deeper into the history of Juno, explore space travel, revisit the Old World, and so on. Flam Kish and Doktor Blutwurst are also shown alive and conscious, with the former being helped by Jin Macchiato and the latter seemingly being reanimated.
The game is slated to release May 29th, 2025 worldwide on all major gaming platforms. All three games will release physically for the very first time exclusively for the Nintendo Switch as well.
Gameplay
The gameplay on Fuga 3 hosts the most in-depth features in the trilogy, further expanding what was improved upon in Fuga 2 on top of introducing new mechanics.
Weakness Combo
The weakness combo rewards players who perform consecutive attacks upon enemy weak points with bonus damage. Further damage can be dealt by activating Burst Attacks at MAX gauge.
Multi-Leader Skills
Instead of just having Malt activate Leader Skills as with Fuga 2, all 12 children now have access to their own unique Leader Skills which are activated at random.
Assist System
The new Assist System allows players to form bonds with new & old comrades, enemies, and "legendary figures" to unlock special attacks that can be summoned once the Assist Bar is maxed out. This system is also key to learning each Assist character's past.
Mega Soul Cannon
The new Taranis features an evolved version of the Soul Cannon named the Mega Soul Cannon.
Instead of being given the choice to fire the cannon when the tank's health hits a low point, or having an AI select a victim, the children aboard instead willingly load themselves into the chamber if they reach a state of complete despair.
Mining
Children can go under mining expeditions to obtain crystals at certain locations. Each child is assigned one of three classes - Mining, Visual, and Transportation. To make the most efficient use of these mines, players must team up crew members who can best explore them according to the mine's difficulty levels.
Future Link Events
This feature has yet to be given an official name
Being the finale of the Fuga trilogy, players can unlock link events that occur in the future. These often feature the characters as adults and could give insight into their lives years after the wars they've survived.
