Britz Strudel (ブリッツ・シュトゥルーデル, Burittsu Shuturūderu) is a main character in Fuga: Melodies of Steel. Hailing from the Berman, Britz was a child soldier who served as a guard at the Mau prison camp. There, he secretly helped a captive escape from the facility, defying the Empire’s cruel treatment of her people and saving her from the mad scientist that ran the camp. While on the run, he lost contact with her, and ends up falling unconscious in the wilderness. He is later found by the children of the Taranis, one of which was the girl he had rescued. She begs for them to let the Berman Britz join their ranks, despite his origins.
Though his loyalties are initially unclear, Britz struggles between his upbringing and his newfound companions. His true intentions are dependent on how well he gets along with the others.
Biography
Britz is a boy from the Berman Empire. He was separated from his family due to his father being outed as a spy and promptly executed. Since then, he's been forcefully made to be a child soldier in order to keep his persecuted mother and sister alive.
Physically, Britz appears distressed though far more well dressed than the rest of the children in the Taranis. His outfit is militant in aesthetic and he wields a handgun & small blade. Near his temple is a scar from an unknown injury and his eyes have dark circles, likely souvenirs from his time as a Berman child soldier and having to deal with his father's betrayal. His Caninu breed is a Doberman with uncropped ears and an undocked tail, which are both uncommon traits when it comes to the Berman Empire's population of the breed. His mother and sister are the only other two Dobermans with natural features.

Fuga: Melodies of Steel
Early life
Britz was part of a family living under the Berman Empire, with his father being enlisted to their army about five years before the events of Fuga. Little did the Berman know that his father was a spy who would give intelligence to a leading Gasco official. His father was soon executed and his mother & sister persecuted. In order to keep them safe, he obeyed to becoming a child soldier.
While stationed in Mau, Britz freed Sheena Falafel from one of the Felineko prisoner camps, giving her the chance to escape a great distance. The children of the Taranis would later find Britz in poor condition while they make haste to Mau. Despite him being a Berman soldier they still take him in as a teammate. Their relationships start off turbulent (with the exception of Sheena), however, as Britz commonly vocalizes his insecurities of being Berman.
Suicide
Britz must be below Affinity Lv. 2 with each member to reach this plot thread
Britz, when he has betrayed the other children, will be found again in the caves of Malamute. His goal is to keep the Taranis from reaching Paresia and thwarting Shvein Hax's plans. Even though he's boarded his own Berman tank and well equipped for a fight, the war between them is full of emotion and confusion. Britz will often stop fighting in confusion and his regret is strong enough to repair the Taranis, but the children have no choice but to continue wailing on him.
When the battle is over, Britz resorts to his last ditch effort and prepares a bomb he had kept in his bag. Apologizing to his mother and sister, he detonates it and commits suicide much to the despair of the children.
Salvation
Britz must be at Affinity Lv. 2 or higher with each member to reach this plot thread
The events of the game continue as usual, but after the battle with the Taranis, Britz exits the tank again and wallows in despair at his failure, but the children quickly tell him that his mother and sister survived and are back at the camp. Filled with relief at their survival yet cursing Hax's name for manipulating him, he apologizes to the crew and asks to join them once again, an offer which they all accept. He loyally stays with the crew after that.
This is a requirement for the true ending, as Britz and all other members of the crew must be alive by the final battle for the option to save all the children.
After The War
Britz canonically survives the game along with the rest of the crew of the Taranis. He lives together with his mother and sister, finally at peace with his father's sacrifice.
