Little Tail Wiki:File Policy
File uploads such as images, videos, and audio files can be useful when creating articles on the Little Tail Wiki, whether to provide visual or auditory aids or archive official art. This page will outline guidelines to follow when uploading files to the wiki.
General rules
- All uploads should be directly relevant to Little Tail Bronx and its creators. If an upload is irrelevant to the series and intended for a user page, it should be clearly denoted as such in the file name or summary on the file page.
- When uploading a file, use the template FileInfo in the summary section. Include a brief description of what it is in the description field and state the source and who the creator is if it is a piece of official art or music in the source field. If the source is found online, such as a tweet, a YouTube video, or a news article, include a link.
- Always select the proper licensing for the upload using the licensing drop-down menu below the summary text box.
- Tag the file with the appropriate categories.
- Datamined content from the games is okay to upload.
Naming convention
Filenames should generally be as concise as possible and be appended with one of the following prefixes to clearly signify what it is from or relating to.
- TC - Tail Concerto
- SR - Solatorobo: Red the Hunter
- FG1 - Fuga: Melodies of Steel
- FG2 - Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2
- FG3 - Fuga: Melodies of Steel 3
- FGC - Fuga: Comedies of Steel
- FGC2 - Fuga: Comedies of Steel 2
- MK - Mamoru-kun
- LTS - Little Tail Story
For related side works such as short stories, novels, and manga, one of the above prefixes followed by something brief such as "manga" or "novel" would be appropriate. For anything else not listed above, such as images of CyberConnect2 employees, simply try to be as brief and descriptive as possible.
Additionally, try to avoid using special characters and other alphabets in filenames, including Japanese. They can be difficult to search and may not always display correctly.
Image guidelines
- Ensure that there are no duplicate or extremely similar images already uploaded. Be sure to check the list of unused files when looking.
- Images should generally be uploaded in the file format they were found in.
- Screenshots with English text are preferable, but Japanese text is acceptable if there is no translation available or if highlighting translation differences.
- Screenshots of Solatorobo should preferably be resized to three times native resolution with nearest neighbor resampling since the native resolution of the Nintendo DS is extremely small and difficult to view on PC.
- Avoid including black bars at the sides of the screen caused by aspect ratio when uploading screenshots.
- Crops of official art books are okay to upload, but avoid uploading full pages or excessive amounts of crops.
- All images from press releases are okay to upload.
- Try to avoid uploading photographs of art when possible. If scans exist, replace photographs with those scans.
- Try to avoid uploading images with watermarks. If a version of equal or better quality without a watermark exists, replace it.
- Avoid uploading fan art that is not part of any official publication. An official artist's personal fan art is acceptable to add to their own page, however.
- Avoid uploading images containing fan translations.
- When adding official images that contain gore or erotic imagery to a page, add
{{NSFW Image}}
to the caption. Avoid uploading any gore or NSFW images that are unofficial or unrelated to the series.
Audio and video guidelines
- Voice clips extracted from games are okay to upload to illustrate how a character sounds.
- Voices and music should ideally be raw extractions with minimal to no background noise. When a notable audio clip has excessive background noise, such as a live music performance, consider uploading a video instead or linking to an external video upload.
- Clips of music tracks can be uploaded, but avoid uploading full tracks. Include links to official uploads of soundtracks if possible and where applicable.
- Uploading videos to the wiki for the archival purposes is okay, but also consider uploading to YouTube and embedding a link or embedding links to existing YouTube uploads.
- While GIFs can often be useful, video recordings are preferred for showcasing game mechanics.
