He boards the Taranis with 11 other children to save their parents from abduction despite not having any living family.
Biography
Jin is the son of a factory worker, so he's tinkered with machines since a young age. He tends to have a blunt attitude but is actually a serious and proud craftsman with a strong will and sense of duty.
Jin is a Basset Hound Caninu with very little attire, with only a bandana, belt and undone overalls on.
History
Fuga: Melodies of Steel
Jin worked in a factory alongside his father. He wasn't very good at it at first, but eventually became an impressive amateur mechanic under the tutelage of his father and the other workers. His father gifted him with his favorite tools, and he became so attached to them that he named them individually: his screw drivers Edward and Emil, his wrench Edgar and his hammer Adam. Life was good in these times, and he aspired to follow in his father's footsteps.
Everything was fine until the Berman army attacked. Berman soldiers led by Flam Kish captured the factory and executed several people, including his father. Jin managed to escape, but swore vengeance. He made haphazard repairs on a beaten up Gasco tank and attempted to take back the factory. On his way back, Jin encountered the Taranis and, thinking it was a Berman creation, uselessly tried to attack it. The shot was so weak that it didn't even scratch the armor of the unshielded Taranis, and the attempt finally caused his tank to fall apart and explode. He escaped and cursed the tank, but was surprised when he heard fellow children within. He begged for a chance to join the tank and save his last remaining friends, and the group happily accepted. He got onboard, made a good first impression in making some repairs aboard the tank, and continued to support the crew.
Should Jin survive until he and the Taranis crew fight Flam Kish, he swears to avenge his father and the factory workers. After they defeat her, he attempts to kill her once more, but the children stay his hand, and he warns her to go away as he joins the children in liberating the rest of the factory workers. He stays on afterwards in gratitude for liberating the factory, and to find the remaining workers that were taken away elsewhere.
Should he survive once again to later chapters, he faces Flam once more. The crew defeat her again, yet Jin once again stays his hand even as he is shocked by how she attempts to destroy the Taranis with a pistol, filled with both pity and fear at her desperate attempts at vengeance. She then dies when the tank explodes, yet her supposed death brings no relief to him.
Canonically, Jin survives alongside the other children and returns to the factory under the tutelage of the remaining workers.

Sacrifice
If auto-loaded and fired through the Soul Cannon, Jin's final thoughts are those of his mother and father, admitting that sacrifice was all he could do in a defeated tone. He also laments the fact that a certain woman is likely laughing over his passing. Jin's firing is unique in that the beam becomes green.
Jin's death depresses Wappa Charlotte who wishes she could have made him have an honest laugh.
Gameplay
Fuga: Melodies of Steel
Jin is the strongest yet slowest Grenadier (though he's still faster than Cannoneers). He is the least versatile among them, but the most specialized at dealing damage. Specifically, he excels at ground combat. He has no skills for striking all enemies, but he has several skills for attacking all ground targets with powerful, status-inflicting attacks, as well as a damage buff for himself. His link support increases fear and depression resistance, while his Hero Mode doubles his skill damage.

Trivia
- Jin was originally drawn to be a dachshund, which would explain his short stature. In the final game, however, he was listed as a basset hound.[1]
- This change may have been done due to the dachshund breed being of German origin.
- In keeping with the theme of naming the kids after sweets, Jin's surname Macchiato is based on Italian dessert coffee.
