Little Tail Wiki:Manual of Style
THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS
Little Tail Wiki prioritizes providing accurate information in an easily digestible format. This means we heavily encourage approved editors to follow the outlines provided here, as well as referring to templates & modules when necessary.
Page Creation
This is the most important factor to any wiki. In Little Tail Wiki, we have decided to work solely in the source editor as visual editor extensions have a high tendency to break and destroy work flow. If you need any help understanding MediaWiki formatting, you can refer to the official guides for HTML and wiki text markup.
Please follow the rules here closely if you find yourself confused or lost when creating a page.
Characters
A page for any main or side character should feature a brief rundown of themselves, such as:
- CharaInfo Infobox - Important to all character pages. This required feature provides the best & quickest summary of a given character by featuring their main image, basic information, and so on. For a more thorough description of what goes into this infobox, refer to the module guide linked at the bottom of this page. For characters who are missing a main image, please use Unknown.png in the image field.
- Opening paragraph - The little blurb that sits atop the headers. This should go over where this character is featured game-wise and what role they serve to the overall story.
- Biography - A quick summary of the character's origins and then their physique.
- History - A summary of the character's history within the stories of the series. This can be segmented by games / novels / etc., but history sections must be chronological and not overly detailed.
- Gameplay - Primarily for the main cast of Fuga, going over the character's gameplay style provides a nice reference and guide to players.
- Concept Art - Concept art is of great interest to many fans of any given series or franchise, so featuring pieces saved onto the wiki is encouraged.
- Gallery - Different from the concept art segment. Galleries MUST be their own page under the format, ".../[CHARACTER NAME]/Gallery".
Games
Pages for videogame titles should be as informative as possible. This means including the following:
- Opening paragraph - A brief rundown of the given game. Go over its release, a very quick summary of how the story begins, and its significance to the series overall.
- Gameplay - Details of the gameplay. Significant functions can be divided into their own segments if necessary.
- Music - Details about the soundtrack. If the title has had any soundtrack releases, link to their album articles. Go over any unique details about its music, covers, etc. if applicable.
- Manga / Novels / Additional Media - If the title has had any extra official material made for it, quickly go over them in chronological order and link their articles.
- Development - Goes over publicly available details about the game's development in chronological order. PLEASE link your sources with the reference tags if possible. If an interview is available in the wiki and is being referenced, link to said interview's article as well.
Galleries
As mentioned above, each character must have their own separate gallery in order to avoid article clutter. If the character is featured throughout multiple pieces of media, please segment each title in order of release date from oldest to newest.
The same applies to videogames. Please create directories unique to each title and organize images by official art, promo images, in-game screencaps from promo material, etc.. Any merchandise photos from CC2 are also welcome.
Language & Punctuation
Little Tail Wiki is solely an English website, meaning we will not offer translated articles or allow mixed languages (Japanese/romaji for character names, location names, and interview texts are exempt from this).
When writing for articles and other pages, please always italicize the titles of media. Examples being Solatorobo, Tail Concerto, Mamoru-kun, and so on.
